In Quantitative Aptitude section even if you know the formula for the problem and know how to solve the equation, you will not get enough time to solve all questions in any SSC or IBPS Examinations. So the first thing you have to do is improve your mathematics calculation skills while preparing for your SSC, IBPS or any other competitive examinations. This will improve your memory power as well as calculation speed, which will make you to score maximum in QA Sections.

You have to do the three procedures mentioned in this article on a daily basis. To do all these steps you have to give 1 hour everyday. When you improve your skill your time will reduce and you can do all these three steps in within half an hour.

#### Step 1 : Write Multiplication Table

- You have to write multiplication tables daily
- You can write Multiplication tables starting from 11 to 99
- Each day Write Multiplication tables for three to 5 numbers
- While writing don't write anything other than the multiplied number

ie You don't have to write 15x1 = 15

15x2 = 30 etc

150 - Also don't add the number to the previous number to get the next multiplication

ie after 30 you can add 15 to 30 to get 45, which doesn't improve your multiplication skill. You have to multiply 15 with 3 in your mind itself and write the number - Every calculation you are doing will be strictly through your head, no more paper calculations
- Do this daily

#### Step 1.1

- After writing the Multiplication tables for three to five two digit numbers as shown in the above step add the numbers of each column and write down the number below each column
- Don't do any writings for the calculation to add each number, you have to add the numbers using your mind only.
- Just add 15+30 and you get 45 in mind and add this 45 to the next number 45 and you will get 90 and so on

#### Step 1.2

- After writing tables simply write 10 multiplications using your numbers and solve the multiplication, again by using your brain only
- eg: If you write the multiplication tables for 11,12,13,14,15 you can write the followings

11 x 17 =

13 x 19 =

14 x 22 =

etc

Means one of the number you write is from your table that you studied that day - While multiplying use the following trick to solve it from your mind

eg : 11 x 17 =

While doing this multiplication multiply 17 with 10 and add 17 to the result so that you will get the answer

like 17 x 10 = 170

170 +17 = 187

eg 2 : 13 x 19

13 x 20 = 260

260-13 = 247

In this way you can improve your multiplication skill and additions and subtraction skill - Again do this daily

#### Step 2 : Converting % to Fraction and vice versa

Many of the QA questions include % calculation and fraction calculation. By knowing the conversion from % to fraction and vice versa you can solve most of the QA questions in Profit, Percentage, Time and Work, Distance and Time etc

- Write the following fraction and its percentage daily

1= 100%

1/2 = 50%

1/3 = 33.33%

1/4 = 25 %

1/5 = 20%

1/6 = 16.66 %

1/7 = 14.28 %

1/8 = 12.5 %

1/9 = 11.11 %

1/10 = 10 %

1/11 = 9.09 %

1/12 = 8.33 %

1/13= 7.69 %

1/14 = 7.14 %

1/15 = 6.66 %

1/16 = 6.25 %

1/17 = 5.88 %

1/18 = 5.55 %

1/19 = 5.26 %

1/20 = 5%

#### Step 2.1

- After writing these fraction and percentages write multiply these with any number

like 3/8

You know that 1/8 = 12.5 %

So that 3/8 = 3 x 12.5 = 37.5 % - In this way write multiplication for each fraction and solve it

#### Uses

- When you have given 37.5 % of an item you can write the percentage in fraction as 3/8 if you know 1/8 = 12.5 % and 3/8 = 37.5 %
- Same way you can convert 64.28 % as 50% + 14.28 %

64.28 % of 456 will be 50 % of 456 + 14.28% of 456

1/2 x(456) + 1/7 x(456) = 228+65.14 = 293.14

Here the calculation is simplified and you don't have to multiply 64.28 with 456 which consumes a lot of time which is available very little in competitive examinations like IBPS and SSC
